Are my photos uploaded to a server?

Why can't I open or share HEIC photos on Windows or the web?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It compresses better than JPG but is not widely supported outside of Apple devices. Windows, most websites, and most social platforms only accept JPG or PNG — converting to JPG makes your photos universally compatible.
Will converting to JPG reduce the photo quality?
This tool converts at 92% JPG quality, which is visually indistinguishable from the original for almost all photos. JPG is a lossy format, so very minor compression artefacts are inherent to the format — but at 92% quality they are imperceptible to the human eye.
